Trans escorts are escorts who are transgender. Most trans escort advertising involves trans women selling services to male customers, although trans men also work as escorts.
A large number of different terms are used on escort sites and in porn, including trans escorts, shemale escorts, ladyboy escorts, T-girls, transsexual escorts, transexual escorts, chicks with dicks and tranny escorts. Some of these are older porn or sex-industry terms and can be considered offensive today, but they are still found in searches, escort directories and older advertisements.

Shemale, T-Girl and Ladyboy
TS escort is another common abbreviation used in transexual escort advertisements and directory search categories.
In Brazil and other parts of South America, the word travesti is often used on escort and dating websites. Travesti can be a separate gender identity and should not automatically be treated as another word for transgirl. Trans and travesti sex workers from South America also advertise in European cities.
Shemale is an old sex-industry and porn term for a trans woman, particularly one who has breasts while retaining male genitalia. It became extremely common in porn and escort advertising, although trans and transgender are now more usual terms.
T-girl is short for trans girl and has long been used in escort advertising and porn. Tranny is another older slang term that still appears in searches and old advertisements, although many transgender people consider it insulting.
Ladyboy is particularly associated with Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia. Thai ladyboys are often known as kathoeys, and ladyboy escorts are particularly visible in the sex industries of Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.
Transsexual and the alternative spelling Transexual were widely used for people who medically transitioned from one sex to another. Both words remain common on older escort and porn websites, although transgender or simply trans has become more usual.
Chicks with dicks is a vulgar porn and sex-industry expression for trans women who retain a penis. It is not a neutral term for transgender women but still appears in porn titles and searches for trans escorts.
Hijras are a traditional gender community found particularly in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other parts of South Asia. Hijra identity has a long cultural history and is not simply another word for a Western transgender woman.
Some hijras work in prostitution and appear in local sex markets, but being a hijra obviously does not mean somebody is a hooker. Terms such as kinnar and khwaja sira are also encountered in South Asia and these describe gender communities and identities, not escort services or prostitution.
Cross-Dressers and Drag Queens
A cross-dresser wears clothing traditionally associated with another gender. Some male cross-dressers advertise escort services while dressed as women without identifying as transgender.
A drag queen is normally a performer using feminine clothing, makeup and character for entertainment. Drag queens are not the same thing as trans women, although a drag performer can also be transgender.

In Europe, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France and the Netherlands host some of the most visible online markets. Latin America is particularly strong in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Argentina, while Thailand and the Philippines dominate Southeast Asia.
South Asia is a bit different. Hijra communities in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have a long cultural history of their own. Some hijras engage in prostitution, but the term should not be used as a synonym for a Western trans escort.
