Top 10 Sex and Strip Club Scams in Prague
Prague Scams covers dating apps, escort bookings, strip clubs, erotic massage parlors and late-night street hustles in Prague. A lot of these tricks start the same way. Somebody gets a cut of what you spend, so their job is to get you into a particular bar, club or private room.
The money problems described here are around Wenceslas Square, Old Town and streets such as Dlouhá, Vodičkova and Štěpánská. Other scams start online, with a fake profile, a deposit or somebody threatening you after an enquiry.

Prague Sex and Nightlife Scams
The Wenceslas Square Strip Club Extortion
A tout stops you: "free entry, one free drink, best club in Prague." You go down a basement stairwell. It's dark, no prices on the wall, a hostess seats you and a drink appears. A dancer sits down. Then come the lady drinks and champagne, ordered without a menu in your hand.
Bills described here run from 2,000-5,000 CZK for a hostess drink or champagne order to a final bill of 15,000-50,000 CZK. The private room can bring another 5,000-15,000 CZK for thirty minutes, verbally agreed and then billed as something else.
When you question the bill, bouncers appear in the doorway. Other versions involve pressure to sign card receipts, a card charged twice or a demand to walk to a cash machine. Free entry was only the start of the spending.
Goldfingers, Hot Peppers, Darling Cabaret and Cabaret Atlas are names mentioned in the material as places with clearer prices. The quoted figures are 200-400 CZK for drinks and 500-800 CZK for table dances. Those names are not a guarantee about every bill or private arrangement.
The price list belongs in your hand before the first order. The price of her drink, your drink, a dance and a private room can all be separate. A promise from a tout outside is no use when the staff inside claim a different deal.
Consumption cards: Staff record your drinks on a card. Losing it can bring a large charge. Photograph the card and keep it with you instead of passing it around the table.
Private dances and VIP rooms: The agreement needs a price, a time and a clear explanation of what is included. A private dance does not automatically include a drink, another dance or a room. A "two for one" offer is no bargain if the bill shows two full-price dances.
Photographs of the menu, the bill and the payment receipt help if there is a dispute. With card payments, watch the amount entered and keep the card in sight. If staff block your exit or threaten you, the numbers supplied here are 158 for police, 156 for Prague City Police and 112 for an emergency. Calling does not guarantee how the staff will react.
The Tinder Champagne Bar Trap
You match with a girl. She's responsive, pretty and eager. She picks a small bar on a side street near Old Town that you've never heard of. Inside, she orders cocktails and a bottle. The bill arrives for €300-800, and the doorman is suddenly interested in whether you are leaving.
Another version ends with her going to the bathroom and never coming back. You are left with the staff and the bill. The person who brought you there may be a paid promoter rather than somebody looking for a date.
The warning signs are her refusing every other venue, drinks arriving without prices and staff ordering on your behalf. A first meeting at a place you choose makes this particular setup harder.
Genuine women approach men in Prague bars, and so do working girls. A conversation can turn into a commercial offer when she starts steering you towards a different venue or a "private performance". That is the point to establish what is being offered and what it costs.
Escort and Dating App Cons
Fake Escorts and the Upfront Deposit Scam
Stolen photos, a cheap price and a 500-1,500 CZK reservation deposit, then a dead number. Other versions call the payment transport, security or a booking charge. After the first payment, another fee appears.
The door code hustle: You get an address at an apartment block and instructions to text when you arrive. Once you are outside, she wants a "verification deposit", Apple gift card or Paysafecard before sending the door code. You pay and get blocked. Standing outside a real building does not mean the person messaging you has a room inside.
Quoted booking figures are 2,000-4,000 CZK an hour for an independent incall and 4,000-8,000 CZK an hour for a hotel outcall. A cheap advertised price is not proof of a real booking.
The WhatsApp switch: The profile moves you off the dating app, then says, "Unfortunately I can't make tonight, but my friend can come." The friend is not the woman in the photographs. The same thing can happen after an escort booking, when somebody different arrives at the door.
Agency fee escalation: The girl arrives and a "house fee", transport charge or doubled rate appears. Later a manager or friend may join the conversation and demand more. Written confirmation of the total, duration, who is attending and any agency fee gives you something to compare with the demand.
Fake verification sites: A link supposedly checks that you are not police or a dangerous client. Instead, it asks for card details, a social-media password or an app login. These links can be used for phishing or malware. A matching photograph on two sites does not prove that either account belongs to the person shown.
The supplied checks include reverse-image searches and comparing names, numbers and rates across Annonce.cz, Sexbox.cz and EuroGirlsEscort. Recent reviews and a written booking agreement are more useful than trusting one photograph.
The Angry Pimp Extortion Text
You enquire about a girl, cancel or refuse a deposit. Then messages arrive from somebody claiming to be the agency boss, a pimp or a cartel manager. He says you wasted the girl's time and owe a fine or cancellation fee.
Some messages include violent pictures or threats against your hotel, home or family. The point is to panic you into paying before you think about whether the sender has any real connection to the booking.
These messages can be sent from scam operations in other countries. A threatening message by itself does not establish where the sender is or whether a threat is genuine. Keep the messages, numbers and payment requests. Paying is not a guarantee that the demands will stop.
Fake police messages: A caller or WhatsApp account claims you committed an offence or contacted somebody underage, then demands an immediate payment to avoid jail. Do not treat a demand made through a chat account as proof that you are speaking to police. The police contact number is 158.
Sextortion, Fake Spa Dates and Investment Scams
Sextortion: A match moves the chat to WhatsApp or Snapchat and asks for intimate pictures or a video call. Afterwards comes the threat to send the material to your friends, family or employer. The sender may find those contacts through your telephone number or social-media accounts.
The recording may be real or the claim may be a bluff. Sending more pictures, passwords or money gives the sender more to use. Keep the messages and account details rather than relying on a promise that one payment will finish it.
Private spa bookings: A match wants a deposit for a private wellness room before you meet. You pay and she never arrives, or the venue asks you to pay again. A Reddit discussion about a private spa date did not prove that a scam occurred. A private spa suggestion alone does not establish fraud; the payment demand and the booking details are what matter.
Content accounts: Some profiles are there to sell subscriptions or content. If the first reply is a sales link, the conversation may be advertising rather than a date.
Pig butchering: Weeks of friendly conversation turn into an introduction to a trading platform or crypto app. The account shows profits, you deposit more, and then the money disappears. The investment offer can also be dressed up as a sugar-daddy arrangement. This is not specific to Prague.
Erotic Massage Parlor Rip-Offs
The Bait and Switch: Fake Flyer Girls
A flyer or website shows a girl you want to book. You pay at reception and only then discover that somebody else will be doing the massage. Sometimes the original girl was never available, or the photograph was taken from another account.
Rabbit Hall and Candy are names in Prague's erotic massage scene. The problems described here concern booking and pricing arrangements generally; no specific incident at either business is described.
The booking should identify whether you are choosing a particular girl or whoever is available. Written confirmation and a reverse-image search can help expose a mismatch before you travel or pay.
The Off-Menu Shakedown
You pay for the massage, get undressed and then hear the price of everything else. A "happy ending", oil, more time, another masseuse or a different service is suddenly extra. The first price did not cover what you thought you were buying.
Quoted erotic studio prices are 1,500-2,500 CZK for thirty minutes and 3,000-5,000 CZK for an hour. They are quoted price ranges, not a promise about what every session includes.
A separate studio or reception fee can appear on top of the girl's rate. Other complaints in the material include an hour ending in twenty minutes, a second girl brought in as an upsell and a supposedly broken card machine followed by a walk to an ATM.
The total price, time, room charge and agreed services belong in the conversation before payment. A price written in WhatsApp is easier to compare with a later demand than a quick conversation at reception.
Ordinary Thai and Foot Massage Shops
An ordinary massage shop is a different business from an erotic studio. A sign saying 500 CZK may mean twenty minutes rather than an hour. Oil, hot stones, four-hand massage and a longer session may be separately priced.
Other problems described in the material are unclear euro conversions, card surcharges, duplicate charges and claims that a card payment failed followed by a demand for cash.
The useful price is the amount in CZK for the actual session length. A large number on a pavement sign does not tell you the time or what is included. The phrase for asking the hourly price is "kolik za hodinu?"
Street Hookers and Late-Night Hustles
Wenceslas Square Hookers and Pickpockets
The street approach can start with, "You look like fun, come have a drink." It can lead to the same expensive bar setup described above, or to an offer for a private meeting elsewhere.
The charm pickpocket: She comes close, laughs, puts a hand on your chest or wraps a leg around yours. While you are distracted, the other hand goes into a jacket or trouser pocket. A front pocket alone is not a guarantee against theft during close contact.
The group photo: Somebody offers to take a photograph of your stag party, takes the phone and then wants money to return it, or walks away with it.
The street locations described here include the area between Wenceslas Square and the main railway station, Opletalova and Bolzanova. A person approaching you there is not automatically a thief, but touching, distraction and pressure to move somewhere else are reasons to keep control of your belongings.
The Fake Police Wallet Check
A man in plain clothes flashes identification and claims he is looking for counterfeit notes or drug money. He wants to inspect your wallet, distracts you and removes banknotes before handing it back.
Another version starts after somebody leaves a strip club, sauna or massage place. The men claim an offence has been committed and want an immediate cash fine.
A badge shown quickly or a demand for cash does not by itself establish who somebody is. The advice is to verify the situation through 158 instead of handing your wallet to an unknown person. Keep any paperwork or receipt connected with a demand for payment.
Gay Venues, Saunas and Discreet Bookings
Much of the local gay scene is around Vinohrady, including Řipská, Sázavská and Korunní. Tourist-facing venues can use the same expensive bottle and hostess-drink arrangements as other adult clubs.
Babylonia, David and Bonbon are sauna names in Prague. Locker security, bar spending and the price of any separately arranged massage are the practical points here. The presence of a darkroom or steam room does not mean a phone, watch or wallet should be left lying around.
Online approaches through Grindr or Romeo can use the same deposit, fake spa, verification-link and substitute-person tricks described above. A link asking for your hookup-app or social-media login is not a normal way to confirm a date.
With street trans workers, the price problem described here is a room charge appearing after an initial agreement, followed by extras or a manager demanding more at the end. Those demands should be judged by the agreement and behaviour, not by whether the worker is trans.
The room, duration and total cash price need to be part of the same agreement. Hotels also have their own visitor arrangements, which need settling before bringing somebody back.
Drink Spiking, Taxis and Getting Home
The drink-spiking warning describes sudden heaviness, poor coordination and memory gaps after a drink. A seriously unwell person needs help and should not be left alone. The emergency number is 112.
Other late-night theft risks include crowded transport, tram 22, Muzeum, Můstek, Florenc and the crowds around Charles Bridge. Bags, phones and wallets need the same attention on the way home as inside a club.
Taxi problems described here are long routes, inflated fares and wrong change. Bolt, Uber, Liftago and AAA are alternatives.
Keeping the Bill Under Control
- No price list, no seat. The menu and the actual price matter more than the promoter's promise.
- No open tab. Paying per round makes it easier to see what you ordered.
- Choose the first meeting place yourself. A match refusing every alternative is a warning sign.
- Get the booking in writing. Keep the price, time, person and included charges together.
- Keep the evidence. Menus, bills, receipts, messages, profiles, numbers, dates and the venue address all help explain what happened.
- Keep the card in sight. Watch the amount entered and keep the receipt
Vinohrady, Žižkov and Holešovice are alternatives to spending the whole night around Wenceslas Square, with quoted beer prices of 40-60 CZK. A different neighbourhood is not a guarantee against scams.
For threats, theft or being prevented from leaving, the numbers are 158 for police, 156 for Prague City Police and 112 for emergencies. Consumer pricing complaints can go to the Czech Trade Inspection, ČOI. A disputed card payment can also be raised with the bank; a refund or chargeback is not guaranteed.
