Dark room

Dark room is a hidden or low-light area inside a gay bar, adult theater, gay cruising club, sex club or cruise venue where people meet for anonymous hookups, touching or casual sex. Dark rooms are strongly connected with gay cruising culture, fetish nightlife and underground sex scenes.

Some dark rooms are small back rooms with small couches and cabins, while others are larger maze-style spaces inside gay cruise clubs or fetish parties. Cities like Barcelona, New York City, Berlin, Madrid and São Paulo are famous for nightlife venues with dark room culture.

Dark rooms are usually found in adult venues only and local laws vary a lot. Theft, pickpocketing, hidden cameras and unsafe sex can happen in darker spaces, especially when alcohol or drugs are involved, so be a careful and so sober and drug free.
