Wenceslas Square

Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) is one of the main boulevards in Prague and a central hub of nightlife in the city's New Town. Although it is not an official red-light district, the square and its surrounding streets have long been associated with strip clubs, cabarets and late-night venues catering to tourists and stag party groups.

Because of its central location between the National Museum and the historic Old Town, the area around Wenceslas Square is filled with hotels, casinos, bars and clubs that remain active late into the night. Many visitors encounter Prague's adult nightlife scene here before exploring other parts of the city.

Nightlife and Adult Entertainment

Wenceslas Square is surrounded by bars, nightclubs and casinos that attract both locals and international visitors. Many of the nightlife venues are located in side streets just off the main boulevard.

One of the most frequently mentioned strip clubs directly on the square is Goldfingers, a long-running cabaret venue known among tourists and bachelor party groups.

While the square itself is primarily a nightlife and shopping district, the surrounding streets host a number of strip clubs and adult-themed venues that contribute to its reputation as part of Prague's party scene.

Ve Smečkách Street

A short walk from Wenceslas Square is Ve Smečkách, a street historically known for its concentration of strip clubs, cabarets and adult entertainment venues.

During the 1990s and early 2000s this street became one of the most visible locations for Prague's adult nightlife industry. Several strip clubs and late-night venues continue to operate there today.

Although Prague does not have officially designated red-light districts, Ve Smečkách is often mentioned in travel discussions as one of the streets where adult entertainment venues cluster.

Escort Scene

In Prague most escorts operate independently and advertise through online directories or agencies. Meetings are usually arranged through websites or messaging rather than through street solicitation.

Because Wenceslas Square is surrounded by hotels and tourist accommodation, escorts frequently mention nearby locations when arranging meetings with visiting clients.

Street Prostitution

Street prostitution in central Prague is far less visible today than in previous decades. Increased regulation and policing in the historic center have pushed most activity away from major tourist areas.

Visitors walking through Wenceslas Square are therefore more likely to encounter nightlife promoters, club advertising and party venues rather than open street-based prostitution.

Safety and Tourist Scams

The Wenceslas Square nightlife district is heavily visited by tourists, which means some venues have been associated with tourist scams. Common complaints reported by travelers include overpriced drinks in strip clubs or aggressive club promoters inviting visitors into venues.

Foreign travelers are generally advised to confirm prices before ordering drinks and to be cautious when accepting invitations from promoters on the street.
