Sexual arousal
Sexual arousal is the mental and physical response to sexual stimulation. A person may become aroused by somebody they find attractive, flirting, kissing, sexual thoughts, porn, masturbation or sexual activity.
An erection is a common physical sign of sexual arousal in men, while women may experience increased vaginal lubrication and other physical changes. Arousal increases, and so does the rate of heart beat and the rate of breathing.
What gets people turned on is very different. One guy might get horny watching porn, one guy meeting somebody on a dating app, one guy going to see a hooker or escort. Sexual orientation, one’s own preferences and fetishes determine what turns someone on sexually.
In everyday language, people often say they are horny, turned on or sexually excited when they feel sexual arousal. Being horny can mean wanting to have sex, masturbate or otherwise satisfy the sexual feeling.
Sexual arousal is closely related to sexual desire, but the two are not exactly the same. Somebody can physically respond to sexual stimulation without actually wanting to have sex, while a person can also want sex without being strongly physically aroused at that particular moment.
