Red-light districts in France is a rough list of current and historical red-light districts, old street prostitution streets, former brothel quarters and known adult nightlife areas in France. France does not have Dutch-style window streets or German-style legal brothel districts. Most old French red-light areas are street-based, station-based, port-based or nightlife-based. Some are still known today, some are much smaller, and some are basically history.

The old map has changed a lot. Police pressure, gentrification, online Escort ads, private flats and the 2016 law changed how visible prostitution looks in France. Still, the old names matter because locals, travelers and older forum reports still use them when talking about red-light areas in France.

Main Red-light Districts and Areas

Paris

Paris has the most famous old red-light district names in France. It is not one single district today, more a spread of old streets, parks, gates and nightlife areas.

Notes on Current Status

Red-light districts in France are not fixed like they used to be. A street can be mentioned to be active in old reports, then quiet, then show signs again later.

The modern French scene is less about one famous red-light district and more about different prostitution districts. Bois de Boulogne is still one of the strongest old names for Paris street prostitution, especially the trans and car-based sex, but even there it is not the same open setup old reports describe.
