Matsushima Shinchi

Osaka, Japan's "Matsushima Shinchi" is one of the city's oldest red-light districts. It is known for its semi-hidden Japanese pleasure-quarter design and its simple system for sex work in front of restaurants. This name is not as well-known as "Tobita Shinchi," but men who are looking for prostitution in Osaka red light district, often find it sooner or later. Matsushima Shinchi is on the Kujo/Nishikujo side of Osaka and has the same strange Japanese loophole feeling: it seems like food, drinks, and company on paper, but everyone knows why guys go there. There are no street prostitution zones, soapland areas, or bar-girl strips like in some other cities like Bangkok, but there is still prostitution.

The girls sit in small shopfronts with older women or workers around. Everything about the scene is tranquil, local, and extremely Japanese. Prices are usually in the same rough Osaka shinchi range. Short visits start at about "15,000–20,000 JPY," and longer visits or visits with attractive girls cost more. Some places don't welcome foreigners, some don't speak English, and some merely wave guys away if they look lost. Compared to Tobita, this region is smaller, quieter, and less well-known to tourists. It could be beneficial or harmful for a man, depending on what he desires. Matsushima Shinchi is still one of the names to remember for "Osaka red-light districts," especially for men who desire to travel beyond Tobita Shinchi, Kabukichō, and Yoshiwara.

Like all other Japanese red-light districts, it has rules that keep it quiet, require payment, respect everyone and do not screw around.
