Lates travel advies: In Bangkok right now it’s basically no ID, no entry to the hotel for visitors in mid/high range places, so tell your guest to bring the original Thai ID card. “Guest-friendly” usually means no joiner fee for one extra guest, but if you go over the room’s max occupancy (often more than 2 total) they can still charge you. If unsure, a quick message to the hotel asking if there is any charge for an overnight guest when booking for two people usually clears it up.
