Pup play
Pup play, also called puppy play, is adult pet roleplay where consenting adults take on dog-like behaviour. It can involve BDSM, affection, sexual interests or simply playing and socialising. Some guys enjoy the gear and attention; others like having a break from everyday responsibilities.
Pups, Handlers and Pup Space
A pup takes the dog-like role, while a handler offers attention, guidance or structure. Some people switch roles, and others participate without a handler. Playing fetch, barking and interacting with other pups can all be part of it.
Pup space describes the feeling of settling into the role and putting everyday worries aside. For some, that playful freedom is the main attraction.
Pup Hoods and Gear
Pup hoods, collars, harnesses and knee pads are familiar parts of the scene. Leather and rubber are popular, but expensive gear is not a requirement. Some people enjoy dressing up; others care more about the company.
A collar or hood does not give anyone permission to touch or take control.
Is Pup Play Sexual?
Pup play can be sexual, social or both. It has strong connections with gay leather and BDSM communities, but is not limited to gay men. Someone's outfit does not tell you their sexuality, preferred role or boundaries.
This is adult human roleplay. Actual animals are not involved in sexual activity.
