Granville Entertainment District Sex Guide covers prostitution, hookers, escorts, strip clubs and nightlife in the Granville Entertainment District, Vancouver, Canada.

Nightlife around Nelson and Granville Street in Vancouver.

Granville Entertainment District

It’s about 4 blocks of Granville between Robson and Drake (Robson to Davie/Nelson on some maps) in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Friday and Saturday nights the street is closed to cars and 10,000+ people flood in. It's loud, it's crazy, it's a party: 25+ bars, clubs and live music venues. If you’re after cheap drinks, packed clubs and easy mingling, this is the main strip.

The strip is young, messy and has a reputation for aggressive street promoters and rowdy crowds. It's a numbers game – high volume. So lots of opportunities to meet women who are also out to hook up.

Nightclubs and Prices

The club scene on and around Granville:

The Roxy Cabaret. A Granville institution. Live music, DJs, burlesque. Hip-hop/party nights. Big pickup crowd.

Twelve West – EDM/electronic, young crowd.

Celebrities – huge gay club, but mixed and huge for dancing. Everybody goes.

Levels, Aura, Cabana Lounge, Bar None, Fortune Sound Club – different levels of bottle-service clubs.

Yale Saloon – country/western, easy to meet people.

Cover: Usually $10-$25 on a Saturday, less on weeknights, often free before 10-11 or on a guest list.

Drinks: Cocktails, $8-$14; beer, $7-$9.

Bottle service: starts around $500 and goes up (Penthouse goes as high as $10,000 on show nights). Usually a bottle minimum at a table.

Clubs shut around 2-3am. The drinking scene in Vancouver doesn't really get going until late and the real crowd doesn't show up until after 11pm.

Strip Clubs

The Granville Strip (1050 Granville St) – smack dab in the district. Full strip club and nightclub.

No5 Orange (Gastown) – dancers 7 days a week.

The Penthouse Nite Club (Seymour St) – legendary, high-end, bottle service $500+.

Prices: lap dances about $40 a song, 3 for $100. Cover is usually $10-20. Many dancers will do private/VIP rooms for extra. A lot of guys make the jump to a paid hookup at strip clubs. Talk to the dancers; some work privately too.

Street Prostitution and Sex Workers

The Granville strip itself is no longer the main streetwalker area – that's more East Hastings and Downtown Eastside. But you’re only a cab ride away.

Street rates in Vancouver are approximately $20-$50 for a handjob or BJ, $40-$80-$200 for full service. Downtown/DTES is cheaper and more variable; quality varies quite a bit.

In the past the "high-class" street action was in the West End (near Granville) before moving east.

If you want the streetwalker experience in particular, East Hastings near Main/Carrall is mentioned in the old street reports. If you prefer an arranged booking, book online.

Escorts, Incall and Outcall

This is how most guys actually got laid in Vancouver. It’s a deep market with plenty of reviews.

Typical rates are:

$250-$400 per hour for a quality independent escort (incall or outcall to your hotel).

There are budget/Asian massage-parlor options for less ($120-$200/hr).

Overnight bookings: $1,000-$3,000.

Where to browse: tryst.link, perb.cc (the Vancouver review board), ohmy.ca, escortdirectory.com, cityoflove.com. Tryst has listings and Perb has reviews, but neither guarantees a booking. Incall means you go to her place; outcall means she comes to your hotel – that’s why your hotel location matters.

Hotels Near Granville Street

Find somewhere on or just off Granville Street so you can walk to everything and bring someone back easily.

Budget/functional: Best Western Premier Chateau Granville (1100 Granville St) – literally in the district, walkable to everything, decent for outcall. Samesun Vancouver if you’re on a hostel budget.

Mid-range: Holiday Inn & Suites Vancouver Downtown (Howe St), Moda Hotel, Hotel Belmont (right on Granville, very central, popular with the party crowd).

High-end: The Douglas (Autograph Collection, in the district, rooftop park), JW Marriott Parq Vancouver (attached to the casino, great for late nights and bringing people back), Fairmont Pacific Rim.

For outcall escorts, an upscale hotel like the Douglas or Parq is often preferred for discretion. If you’re just doing the club-and-street thing, a Granville hostel/motel is fine. Check visitor rules before arranging a meeting.

Nightlife and Paid Hookups

Granville clubs. Meeting women naturally. After 11pm. Be social. Buy a round. Roxy, Twelve West, Yale Saloon.

Want a paid hookup? Arrange an escort booking for an outcall to your Granville hotel. $250-400/hr.

Want the cheap street thing: cab to East Hastings, $40-200.

Want it in one building: the strip clubs (Granville Strip, No5 Orange) – lap dances $40/$100. Some dancers work privately too, but a dance does not include sex.

Stay somewhere on Granville or attached to Parq and all of the above is described as a 10-minute walk or $10 cab ride.

Though it's more of a "gentrified" or semi-commercialized version than locations like Portland's Skinner Way, Granville Street in Vancouver – more especially, the section between Robson and Broadway – is commonly regarded as the city's red-light district.

Is Granville a Red-light District?

Yes, but it's not as harsh or hazardous as it was in the 1990s and early 2000s. Adult stores, massage parlors, and strip clubs now line it. The area is still characterized by sex work businesses, but the actual street-level solicitation (women standing on corners) has significantly decreased as a result of policing and urban development.

Transgender Sex Workers

Transgender women and other LGBTQ+ communities have long gathered on Granville Street. Transgender sex workers can be found working in nearby massage parlors and strip clubs as well as on the streets. There are also venues that hire or cater exclusively to trans performers.

Female Street Prostitutes

There are fewer female street workers than previously. Instead of working on the streets, the majority of cisgender female sex workers in this area now work in indoor establishments like massage parlors, escort services, or strip clubs. Even so, street workers are still visible, especially at night, though they often blend in with other pedestrians. Many are local Canadian women, Southeast Asian, or Eastern European.

Male Sex Workers and Street Conditions

Although they are less obvious, male sex workers are also present.

During the day, the area is usually safe, but at night, bar crowds can make it rowdy.

The main differences between street-based and parlor-based workers are cost, security and clientele.
