Kuta
For many foreigners arriving in Bali, Indonesia, Kuta used to be their first stop. Although prostitution is prohibited in Indonesia and it is not an official red-light district, Kuta has long had a harsh tourist nightlife edge where bars, massage parlors, freelancers, dating-app girls, transgender girls, drunk men and petty scams mix together. Before learning about the island, many newcomers start in Kuta. Bali isn't sophisticated and isn't attempting to be. It's an old, inexpensive beach resort with loud bars, run-down hotels, massage signs, money-changer traps, and girls who know exactly what a new visitor looks like. Although Canggu is more stylish and Seminyak is smoother, Kuta still attracts the first wave of males who come to Bali in search of mischief, alcohol and the beach.
Compared to locations like Pattaya or Angeles City, the sex scene is scattered and seldom as open. There isn't a large brothel strip or a spotless street of windows. Nightlife, massage parlors, hotel contacts, dating apps and freelancers wandering the bars are all part of the scene. These days, dating apps play a significant role in society. Freelancers, escorts, scammers and regular girls all use Tinder, Bumble and other applications. A girl can be seeking a quick setup, drinks, money, a foreign partner, a paid night or a date. The boundary in Kuta isn't always obvious until the bill shows up.
There are many different types of massage; some are clean, some are lazy, and some are the typical plus-plus scam. A cheap massage sign is meaningless. Some rooms are better forgotten, the price may increase once the clothes are removed, and the girl at the door might not be the girl in the room. The broader Kuta nightlife also includes ladyboy-style workers and transgender girls, but not in the Thai sense. Unlike Bangkok or Pattaya, Bali does not have a large, open ladyboy strip. Through apps, private contacts, massage parlors and late-night entertainment, trans girls are more scattered. The old rough talk is still helpful, although prices in Kuta are always shifting. Depending on the girl, location and amount of tourist tax imposed, a basic local massage can cost between 100,000-200,000 IDR, while an extra-service or plus-plus massage can cost between 300,000-700,000 IDR. Because half the game is with mood, drinks, hotel, appearance and how foreign the guy seems, it is more difficult to price freelancers and dating-app girls. While more refined escorts, trans escorts or outcall girls can start at 1,000,000 IDR or more, rough street and bar talk typically starts at 500,000-1,000,000 IDR for a straightforward short-time agreement. No Kuta pricing should be regarded as a set menu. The same girl can give a cheap quote to one man and a double quote to another. The likelihood of a catch, such as an ugly room, an unexpected additional charge, a fake photo, rushed service, poor hygiene or a friend waiting outside, increases with the cheap price. Kuta includes scams. For years, the area has been known for its money changers, scammer cabs and moto drivers, dating-app setups, drunk-guy or girl robberies, fake escorts. Kuta is still important since it is the messy old entryway to Bali's nightlife. Before continuing on to Seminyak, Canggu, Sanur or Ubud, many guys go through it. It is still one of the locations where Bali nightlife, escorts, massages, freelancers, trans girls and scammers collide after dark, even if it is no longer the most attractive area of Bali.
