Hostess
A hostess is a woman, man or transgirl employed to entertain or spend time and drink with customers in a bar, nightclub, hostess club or similar place.
The exact meaning changes a lot between countries. In some places a hostess is simply paid to sit and drink with guests, while elsewhere the term overlaps with bargirls, escorts and the local sex industry.
Hostesses are especially common in nightlife areas of Thailand, South Korea, China, Japan and other parts of Asia. Some earn money from drinks or commissions and may leave the venue with customers, while others offer no sex at all.
A hostess should therefore not automatically be confused with a prostitute or sex worker. See Hostess club for more about the clubs where hostesses work.
