Burlesque
Burlesque is adult stage entertainment built around teasing, stripping, dancing, costumes, comedy, old cabaret style and sex appeal. It is not always a straight strip club show, and it is not the same as prostitution or a brothel, but burlesque has always lived close to the adult nightlife world: bars, cabarets, showgirls, dancers, bachelor parties, tourist shows and men paying to watch women perform.
Old burlesque was way rougher and dirtier, more closer to vaudeville, music halls, cabaret rooms and red-light nightlife. The girls were not always fully naked. The point was often the tease, not just the body. A good burlesque dancer sells attitude, timing, costume, legs, eyes and dirty imagination. That is why burlesque can feel more sexual than a cheap strip show, even when less skin is shown.
Modern burlesque is all over the place. Some shows are polished theatre, some are retro pin-up, some are queer and drag-heavy, some are comedy cabaret, and some are basically strip-club energy dressed up with feathers and vintage music. In big cities like Las Vegas, London, New Orleans, [[Paris] and Berlin, burlesque sits somewhere between nightclub, cabaret, striptease and theatre.
Burlesque dancers are not automatically sex workers, escorts or prostitutes. Some may also work as models, dancers, strippers, escorts or online adult performers, but the show itself is usually stage entertainment. A man who treats burlesque like a prostitution menu is going to look stupid fast.
Prices depend on the city and show. Small bar burlesque can be cheap. Famous casino or theatre shows can cost serious money. Extra money usually comes through tickets, drinks, tips, VIP seating, photos, merch and private-event bookings, not direct sexual services.
Burlesque is sex theatre. It sells tease, fantasy, glamour, dirty jokes, bodies and old nightlife mood. It belongs on pages about strip clubs, adult shows, cabaret, Las Vegas Strip, Bourbon street, Soho, Pigalle and other nightlife areas, but it should not be confused with direct escort or brothel work.
